How Do You Setup a Pinion Poll Test?
Pinion Polls consist of four steps that guide you through creating a poll to collect audience insights.
Step 1: Internal Setup
This initial setup page is where you'll configure test parameters that only you can see—none of the shoppers will see what you input here. It's the behind-the-scenes work, where you choose your poll type, define your learning objectives, and name your product or category.
1.1. What Type of Poll?
You can either create a custom poll from scratch by selecting from the Poll Types or select from the Pre-defined Templates.
1.2. What Are You Hoping To Learn?
What’s the key insight you’re looking for? This is your chance to define the key insights you’re looking for. Keep it clear and focused—this will help guide your test and make sure you get meaningful results.
1.3. Product/Category Name
Name your product or category to keep everything organized, especially when you have multiple tests running.
Step 2: Options
This step is where you present shoppers with different choices. You’ll provide context and options for them to select from, allowing you to get more structured and specific feedback..
2.1. What question do you want to ask the shoppers?
Keep it simple and direct—what do you need shoppers to decide on?
2.2. Enter Options
You can add up to 5 options. A good rule of thumb is to ask 50 shoppers per option to get balanced feedback.
Ways to add options:
- Upload from files – Select from your saved files
- Select from gallery – Choose images saved in your gallery
- Grab from ASIN – Pull product images directly from ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number)
Step 3: Audience
This is where you choose the right group of shoppers to take your poll. You’ll fine-tune who sees your test to ensure you get the most relevant feedback.
3.1. Who’s audience to use?
Use ProductPinion’s audience or bring in your own custom audience. You can always mix and match if needed.
3.2. How many shoppers?
For 2 options, we recommend asking 100 shoppers. However, feel free to start with a smaller or larger group based on your needs.
3.2.1. Standard Demographics
This settings help you narrow down your audience to those who fit your ideal customer profile. By default, you’ll have access to the fastest available shoppers, but you can customize further.
- Sex (Choose between Male or Female)
- Household Income (Select from a range of options)
- Age (Select from a range of age groups)
- Amazon Shopping Behavior (Choose from shoppers who fit specific Amazon shopping behaviors, like frequent buyers)
- Country (Select the country of your target audience)
- Language (Pick the language preference for the shoppers)
3.2.2. Advanced Targeting
This is where you can really drill down if you need more specific targeting:
3.2.3. Custom ProductPinion Audience
Build a very specific audience if needed.
3.2.4. Exclude shoppers from previous polls?
Choose whether to avoid including people who have already participated in prior polls to ensure fresh responses.
Step 4: Review and Submit
In the final step, review all the details of the poll before submitting it to ensure everything is correct. If you realize there’s a mistake later on, you can always stop the test and make changes.
