How Do You Setup a Pinion Ask Test?
Pinion Ask consists of four steps that guide you through setting up a test to gather valuable feedback from your audience.
Step 1: Internal Setup
This initial setup page is where you'll configure test parameters that only you can see—none of the shoppers will see what you input here. It's the behind-the-scenes work, where you define your learning objectives, and name your product or category.
1.1. What Are You Hoping To Learn?
What’s the key insight you’re looking for? This is your chance to define the key insights you’re looking for. Keep it clear and focused—this will help guide your test and make sure you get meaningful results.
1.2. Product/Category Name
Name your product or category to keep everything organized, especially when you have multiple tests running.
Step 2: Questions
This step is where you create the experience that your testers will interact with. You’ll add the questions you want to ask and set how they appear to your audience.
What Shoppers Will See
2.1. Before the test
You can provide optional background information for your testers. This is a great place to add a brief explanation or context that will help them understand the test. Keep it short and to the point.
2.2. Add Questions
Start building your question with the following tools and options:
Question Type: Choose the response format that matches your goal:
Short Answer – Collect brief, open-ended responses.
Single Answer – Allow users to pick one answer from a list.
Multiple Answer – Let users choose multiple responses.
Dropdown – Offer a compact, scrollable list of options.
Price – Ask users to input or select pricing preferences.
3 Second Test – Show an image for 3 seconds, then gather quick reactions.
Listing Battle – Present 2-3 items side by side and ask users to pick their favorite.
Media Options:
- Add Image – Upload a custom image to support your question.
- Select from Gallery – Use an image from your existing gallery.
- Add Test – Insert a new item (such as a product or concept) for feedback.
- Add Link – Include a clickable URL for users to view before answering.
You can continue to add more questions as needed. Each question helps refine your insights and gives your audience a clear, focused task to complete.

Use ProductPinion’s audience or bring in your own custom audience. You can always mix and match if needed.
